Eric Asubonteng

Eric Asubonteng is a distinguished executive leader and Chartered Accountant (FCCA) with over 22 years of experience in top-tier management roles across the international mining industry, spanning both surface and underground operations. He is the Founder and Group CEO of EKA Group, a holding company focused on mining services and properties.

His executive expertise was forged through key leadership positions, including Senior Vice President and Managing Director at AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi Mine). Notably, Eric played a critical role in the major restructuring program that led to the successful revival of the Obuasi Mine. His background also includes strategic roles at Gold Fields, serving as the Finance and Business Improvement Manager in Western Australia.

A highly influential figure in industry governance, Eric served as President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines from 2018 to 2022, after previously serving as the 1st Vice President.

He holds an MBA from Manchester Business School and a Graduate Certificate in Mining Engineering from the University of New South Wales (Australia). In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the mining sector, the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) awarded him an Honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) Honoris Causa in 2020.
